Hi, I am Bruce Boelter, Pastor of Spiritual Life and Formation here at Crossroads Church. I have attended Crossroads for about nine years and joined the staff in December of 2005. This is my second career (or perhaps my fourth depending on how you count careers). I retired from Qwest in January of 2006. The bulk of my time there was spent in the Information Technology arena. I attended Denver Seminary on a part time basis for eleven years and graduated in December 2006 with a MDIV degree. I have been married to Sue for almost twenty-nine years now. We have two children, Amanda and Wesley. Sue teaches fifth grade at Westview elementary school.
At Crossroads I am responsible for small groups, Christian education, discipleship, and oversight of the website.
Small groups: A small group is a group of people who come together on a regular basis for a common purpose and are led by an identified leader who is assisting them in their progress toward full devotion to Christ by intentionally providing an environment for connection, community, and spiritual formation. Small groups at Crossroads Church provide a place where each individual experiences a sense of identity and belonging and where people are being Christ to each other by knowing and being known, loving and being loved, serving and being served, celebrating and being celebrated. Small groups provide the context for living out many of the ‘one another’ commands found in the New Testament – for example, to love, accept, instruct, encourage, serve, teach, confess to, and to have fellowship with one another.
Discipleship: Dallas Willard in Renovation of the Heart describes the heart or spirit as that part of us that drives or organizes our lives and that this spirit has been formed and taken on a specific character. This fundamental aspect of every human being is the place within us from which outlook, choices, and actions come and has been formed by a world away from God and must be transformed. Willard notes that the revolution of Jesus is a revolution of character that changes people from the inside through an ongoing personal relationship to God in Christ and to one another. This relationship changes ideas, beliefs, feelings, and habits of choice, as well as bodily tendencies and social relations.
Website: The web site is an important tool in the ministry and mission of Crossroads Church. In today’s internet world the website oftentimes will be the initial or perhaps the only place where new people will go to learn about Crossroads Church. At Crossroads we strive to have the web site reflect the depth and the quality of the various ministries of Crossroads.
I like to tell folks that my hobbies are the three R’s – Running, Reading, and Religion.
If I can provide assistance related to any of the previously mentioned ministries, or just general pastoral care, I can be reached at 303-452-5332 or by email at Bruce.Boelter@Crossroadsabc.com.
